I just got NASCAR 2 for Christmas.  In NASCAR 1 I was able to find a setup
for Atlanta where, early in the race if I drove a perfect line, I would
have little or no squeal.  In NASCAR 2 I can't get the squeal out.  Also,
my experience is that even dramatic changes in my car setup has very little
if any impact on my results at Atlanta.  No matter what I do the car it
seems to always want to understeer.  (I double checked that I am in
REALISTIC instead of ARCADE mode)  I moved the weight fully forward and
took out all of the rear wing and still seem to get understeer.  (I am
beginning to think my driving ability, even with a T2 wheel, is so poor
that it vastly over shadows any effects of car setups...and I have been
practicing, practicing, practicing)

Do real NASCARs squeal like this in turns?

Has anyone been able to get the squeal out (besides just killing the pig)?

And does anyone know if all of this squealing seriously affects tire wear.
My experience even with NASCAR 1 at Atlanta is that I run out of tire well
before I run out of gas.

Ronnie,

Move the weight more rearward to loosen up your car.  Moving the weight
forward adds more push.  Also, it took me awhile, but I did find a setup
that worked quite well for Atlanta, allowing my tires to last between
gas stops.  I haven't tried it in NASCAR 2 yet, so I don't know how
efficient it will be.  I hope to get around to that in the next week or
so, and I'll let you know.

NASCAR 2 does have more tire squeal.  Even while running a good line with a
good setup at Dover - I get some squealing in the corners.  However, my
tires are not being destroyed by it - so I have gotten used to it.  In
fact, my tires are running quite cool - leading me to believe that I am not
pusing it hard enough.  /THansen

one of the most common mistakes with people setting up cars is the less
weight on the wheels, the less they will grip. It's the other way around.
More weight on, say the rear wheels, will increase the amount of pressure
on those tires, therefore increasing the chance of losing grip. Shocks
also do this. Stiffer shocks get rid of the pressure off that tire much
faster and that can cause a bad driver to overcorrect and slam into
someone or the wall. To reduce your push, move more of your rear bias to
the back, loosening the rear of the car. If that still doesn't work, try
reducing the tire pressure in the front or softening the front shocks.
Finally, try a slower entry into the corner or a different line.
