Sprint Car Racing-------AVOID---they screwed it up!

by Bob Thurma » Mon, 31 Jul 2000 04:00:00

Just picked up Sprint Car Racing. Very bad. I loved DTR but nothing
is left of DTR in the game.

There is NO option to configure a steering wheel! You can chose to
use keyboard, joystick or wheel. But you can not configure your wheel.
Only left and right work for me (Logitech Wingman FF-USB). Can't configure
to get the pedals to work.

Also chosing "wheel" some how disables the "enter" key on my MS
keyboard. And since "enter" is used to select in the menu I can't run
the game.

There is a configuration program but you can only program joystick buttons.
No wheel/pedal options. I'm trying to sort this out to see if I can get
something
to work.

There is no career mode in Sprint Car Racing. You can chose to race
in the "circuit" but you have to finish in the top 3 to advance to the next
track. No different series to join.

This is bad! They removed features that were in DTR!

I reset everything to keyboard. Started "circuit" at hard setting!

THERE ARE NO CHASSIS/GEAR SETUP OPTIONS!
No tires, no gears, no shocks, no weight distribution....nothing.

This is a third rate console game!
Stay with DTR!

P.S. these guys have topped even Diakatana for trashing a game
system that was working fine before they got their hands on it.

Your warning is much appreciated by all here, but please note that you
have been duped by a similar name, similar font, and similar pricetag --
the "Sprint Car Racing" game that you have in your possession is NOT a
Wizard Works product, nor was it produced by Ratbag (who produced Dirt
Track Racing).  The Wizard Works/Ratbag sprint car game will be
called "Dirt Track Racing - Sprint Cars," and it has NOT been released
yet. DTRSC *does* feature a career mode, will accept many different
controller setups, and it will also feature replays, something that was
missing from the original DTR.

If possible, I'd recommend returning the "Sprint Car Racing" title and
wait until DTRSC comes out in the August/September timeframe.

Bob,

Please try to read some of the other posts in this thread before you
continue blasting Wizard Works and Ratbag -- you've been duped, plain
and simple. The Sprint Car Racing game that you have is NOT the sequel
to DTR, but a rip-off published by another company hoping to cash in on
DTR's success.  DTRSC is coming, but it's not due out until
August/September.

Eh... take a look at the box/manual Bob... this one is not by Ratbag but by
Lizard Works (or something) and it's a console port. And yup, it sucks
apparently (local magazine gave it 12%).

Sorry to break this to you, but you bought the wrong game.

Holy Mackerel!

I damn near bought this the other day at CompUSA.... Didn't look to closely
at it, but the graphics on the box look VERY similar to DTR, VERY SIMILAR!

It had a $20 price tag on it, which I thought, hey... They did it again :-)
Ratbag/Wizzard Works is pricing this game at a very consumer friendly tag,
just like DTR... Cool....

Like I said, if I wasn't in a hurry I would probably have picked it up, and
been duped as well...
I just can't believe they can get away with that, doesn't the folks from the
REAL Sprint Car Racing know ?

Thanks! Sure looked like DTR packaging! Glad it is not the
Ratbag game! Sorry for the panic. But at least some people
that might think it is the same might avaiod it.

Deceptive little weasels, aren't they? <G>

You're going to be very pleased with the Ratbag game, I think, which
will be a much-deserved treat for you -- thanks for taking the bullet
on this one and protecting the rest of us from suffering a similar fate!

;-)

Sprint Car Racing-------AVOID---they screwed it up!

A bunch of danged thieves!  I saw it in Best Buy at Ft.Wayne, and
looked pretty carefully at it.  Not seeing Ratbag or Wizard Works like
the words appear on my DTR  and Powerslide, I felt something was not
right, especially since I thought "Sprint Cars" was due later in August
or early September and included winged sprinters.
I suppose one reason they think they can get away with it is that
they are ripping a small company, half-way around the world.

Actually they are ripping WizardWorks, which is a division of GT
Interactive, which was recently bought by Infrogrames, which is one of
the largest game publishers in the world.
