TSW & FF & Momo

by Shoc » Mon, 22 Mar 2004 10:50:22

Hey everybody,

Over the last two months I have posted a lot of questions here about pedals
and steering wheels for my pc.  For about a year or more I have been using a
logitech momo ff racing wheel (black version).  I am happy with the wheel
but I have been seeking to buy new pedals for a while.  I made the decision
on getting the TSW universal pedals, but now I am considering the whole TSW
Cup setup.  With the momo I have been using 50% FF, which isn't very much,
but I guess I do rely on it some.  How do you TSW users think I will adjust
to using a wheel like the TSW which has no FF?  Is the TSW wheel tight
enough that it will have a little resistance despite the fact that there is
no FF?  BTW, the reason I am considering the TSW is because I have a second
PC now and I would like to play NR2003 against friends via my home network.

Thanks ahead,

Shock

I have a black Momo w. TSW pedals (my fav setup), an Ol' Red Logi WMFF w.
ECCI "tractor" pedals (my least fav setup) and an ancient ECCI non-FF that I
bought for $400 in the last century that I still treasure.

It depends on what you play...and how much you like FF.  I actually prefer
GPL w/o FF, at least w. the ultra-precise ECCI.  OTOH, I have come to rely
on FF w. N2003 w. 50% (or less) FF.  Some modern sims have lousy FF (more
like console "rumble" game pads) and some are unplayable w/o it.  Personal
pref, I'd say....

Hey Shock,

I went from the pre-Momo Wingman Formula Force with FF to the TSW2 Cup and I
can tell ya that I don't miss the FF at all. The spring tension as-is from
Thomas is perfect for centering the wheel as needed and has plenty of
resistance to turn against while cornering. I wouldn't go back to force
feedback now if you paid me to, honestly.

But who am I? A nobody, a semi-retired online league racer (I only race 1
night a week now lol). Take a look at the top handful of guys here whom you
may actually recognize and see what they have to say about it:

And I'm with the Carl Long guy on that page above, I've raced mine for a
good good while (going on 3 years now) and it still races now like the day I
unpacked it. I say give it a shot, you won't be let down, and even if you
are, there will be someone that will buy a TSW off you I'd bet.

EDIT: Typo alert, I should have said CARL EDWARDS. So far as I know, Carl
Long is a not a TSW user. I apologize for the mix up.

Hi Shock,

a friend of mine races on the Momo with FF while I have a TSW setup,
and don't miss a thing about not having FF on my setup. I am actualyl
slower on his Momo than on my own rig.

Cheers,

uwe

I have turned off FF on my MSFF wheel. I do not miss anything. I am
looking at moving to the ECCI and TSW setups.
