Is it just me, or is this a real easy track to run?  Usually when I start
learning a new track i'm constantly in the wall for the first 20 mins, but
at texas I was running top notch times, without hitting the wall even once..

But then again I haven't tried a race yet, only practice, so maybe I
shouldn't say anything yet...

Texas is a pretty forgiving track, but... maybe you're just getting better!

Cheers,
Gerald

Texas (Like Lowes, Atlanta, Chicago and Kansas) is a pretty easy track to
run alone. The banking and shape are condusive to good lap times with even a
'bad' setup loaded.

The trick at Texas is in the racing, it can narrow up pretty good coming out
of 4 anything more than single file and a truly fast setup will wear the
tires out before you run out of gas so if a run goes yellow free past about
40 laps, things can get interesting...

If you can get around it ok alone, you should fare ok in a race, congrats on
your happiness with the track. Use it as a base to figure out the tracks
where you don't do so well.

Hopefully you're getting better.  But let's see how it goes when you run
in traffic.  How long will those tires last ya?  That'll be the real test.

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the
citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a
double-edged sword. It both emboldens the ***, just as it narrows the
mind.  And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the
*** boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no
need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry,
infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their
rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I
have done. And I am Caesar."   -- Julius Caesar

Yeah, tire wear is crucial, especially in longer runs.  Once you have
a solid baseline, improved tire wear is the real benefit of working on
setups.  I can drive nearly as fast with the default <fast> setup as I
can with my race setup, but the RF melts after about 20 laps.  Then it
is VERY SLOW.
