Ok we understand that a save game option will be part of the patch. The
question is when the hell will the patch be out? One week? One month? Six
months? One year? Five years? Nascar 3?

Not to mention NRO on TEN??????????????

Give the people that spend all the money on your sims some definitive
answers!!

I can understand your wanting to know the answer to this question.
However, Jim Sokoloff is a developer at Papyrus who has concretely stated
on this forum that his focus is Nascar Racing 3.  He attempts to provide
feedback on this forum to help out users of Papurus' sims.  However,
developers are not in a position to publically disclose release dates of
products - this is for marketing and sales folks.

Although your request may be valid - your target is not.

Since Mr. Sololoff's focus is NASCAR 3, I'd like to be first in line to
request that they not rush the product to market (even if X-mas is
approaching). Another request is a product that has appropriate VESA
drivers included, does not require you to load a mouse driver, and does
not require additional programming to get sound. In short, a racing
program that will load on a computer as advertised in all that glossy
advertising Sierra purchases.

I could get crazy and ask for a "SAVE" option and a less demand program
engine, so you can actually get a game looking like the one on the box.
But at this point, I'd be happy with N2 just RUNNING (and saving).

Love GP2, Loved the Original NASCAR game. But N2 bites. Maybe it's like
Star Trek movies, every other one sucks. In any case, I'm hoping for a
better product in NASCAR 3.  Or that will be the last product of Sierra's
I purchase.

I also realize that PAPYRUS is a sacred cow on this newsgroup, drawing
ugly flames when anyone complains. But I live in America.....Freedom of
Speech Baby!

This is a known problem with releasing a DOS game into a market where
most computers come pre-installed with Win95, and do not have the
correct DOS drivers loaded at the factory. Future Win95-native
releases should solve the above problems, but will introduce problems
of their own...

VESA drivers are video card specific. We ship UniVBE with the game;
I'm not sure what more we could POSSIBLY do for that situation!

Oh, there's been plenty of sacred cows being ground into
Papyrus-burgers lately here... :-)

Perhaps a closer look at YOUR system will help.

I hear there is a new Star Trek coming out soon. The studio is hoping
to have it done by X-mas.

HEY. If you dont like the game....Puit it back in the box and go get a
refund!!

Unfortunately, now adays if a piece of software has been opened the
store will not take it back for a refund.  You can only exchange it for
the same piece of software.  They get you comming and going.  If
possible I usually try to rent a piece of software before I buy it, to
make sure that I think it is worth the money.

I think that NASCAR 2 is superior to NASCAR 1 overall.  I would like the
save games though and the double file restarts, basically everything
that NASCAR has changed since the last version of the sim.

I know that this is some vendors' policy, but Sierra has a 30-day
money back guarantee that is *in addition* to anything the vendor
gives. So, if you're vendor's policy is as above, you can go directly
to Sierra, so at least you aren't 100% SOL. (You still probably have
to pay postage, and wait a couple of weeks, but it's better than
getting stuck with a game that you either a) truly dislike, or b)
won't run on your system.)

This is actually one very noticeable, very tangible improvement since
the takeover... (as Papyrus had never made such an offer...)

One may have to pay a few bucks more, but there are a few software
vendors which will allow software returns for cash withing a certain
window.  I know that Electronics Boutique offers such within I believe
30 days.  I exercise my consumer power and usually buy from them
because of this policy.

If more people exercised their "consumer power", we would have more
power.  I firmly believe that one of the reasons Egghead Software
has run into problems was their decision years ago to stop their
policy of software returns.  At the time there was a concerted
effort to "boycott" Egghead.  Along with other bad corporate
decisions, I think this is why Egghead now has egg on its face.

As a former Egghead shopper who did stop buying there because of their
change of policy, I also think that is what started their downhill
slide. I haven't had to return any games lately but I sure feel better
walking out of Electronic Boutique with that new game that came out
yesterday knowing I can bring it back if turns out to be a stinker.

If more people returned their unsatisfactory games instead of just griping
on and on about the same bugs, I think we would have less buggy software
coming out since the manufacturers would lose significant cash by having
to refund purchase prices.

I AM glad to see Egghead paying for their stupid policy, maybe other
retailers will learn a lesson from this.

Cheers.

Hear Hear. Some people are just plain rude. Jim obviously loves his
job and there is know question about his knowledge of Nascar physics
with some of his answers. I just dont understand why they cant get it
into there heads that he is not the ***y sales rep. and has nothing
to do with release dates. I am*** out just like everyone else on
the patch but everyone must understand Jim just enjoys being here like
we all do and can not give anymore details than he already has. I feel
like moaning to about it to some times but I know it will be ready
when its ready. At least we will have a patch. Not like the Microprose
chaps.
