Well the Aura Interactor has finally arrived!

A word of warning to Europeans wanting to try this - the power supply
only comes in 120V flavour, so to get it to work on 240V I had to buy an
auto-transformer (about 35).

This is a huge scary-looking transformer, as it has to output 120V AC at
about 40W!

It's all starting to remind me of that scene in Never Say Never Again
where Largo challenges Bond to the video game of his own design: called
"World Domination", where as points are scored against each player they
get progressively larger electric shocks until one of them is forced to
let go of the controls (and lose the game).

I can imagine hooking up the vest to this huge transformer, strapping
myself into it and being vibrated to jelly when I fly off the track at
the Masta kink!

I must be crazy - the pursuit of realism in computer games has to stop
somewhere!

I'll be trying it out tonight, and then I'm on holiday for a couple of
weeks, so I won't be able to report my experiences till I get back.

PS: There are reviews of this thing all over the net (use AltaVista to
find them), and although they're no longer being manufactured, you can
still get them from:

        http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Unbelievably cheap as well - only $20 (although I had to pay $45
shipping and it took nearly two months to get here by surface mail!).

Hi Neil,

Hadn't heard of this one. What would it pick from GPL and how.

I have the cushion version and it works really great with GPL.

Ive gutted  one of the backpacks and fitted it to my hyper stimulator ,
awsome ride , rather than seeing the a1 cars trying to overtake you can feel
them , you can also start to feel the slide before it happens. Would have to
recomend  it to anyone who is looking to replace the %22lost sense%22 of
speed when driving.

Just imagine what the ultimate sim experience would be now...

- A mock-up racing***pit
- A quality FF wheel
- An Aura Interactor
- GPL
- A P3-600 with all the works

I bought mine here in Oz and it came in 240volt flavour . This thing is
magic with GPL. You can feel the engine vibrations just like you are sitting
in the real tub and the first time you put a wheel in the dirt you'll wonder
WTF hit you. Great toy! At fifty bucks Australian a steal.Andrew.
ps; it's also great with Unreal- when you let five rockets go from the
Eightball it's,well.. ..unreal ! Excellent in SCGT as well. It works
entirely on sound so anything with high pitched sounds is not so good with
this(eg;GP500)

Well, you'll either be on holiday or recovering from crashing at Masta
:-)

Where should we send the get well cards to?

<Check> Hyperstim

<Check> Replaced the HS Wheel with the Logitech wheel. (BTW, I placed
the HS Wheel back, much better feel)

<Check> Well, my Hyperstim has a seatshaker....same deal

<Check> Of course, this is 97% of the fun

I also have the Eyescream glasses, but I don't use this while
racing.

I'm not dead yet!

I have actually tried this now, and I actually knocked 3 seconds off my
best time at Spa (OK, it's still only 3:22, but it's progress)!

Not that the vibrations actually gave me any useful info, but the
experience was so much more immersive that it really got my adrenaline
moving!

I've now started going through Masta in top gear, which has got to be
one of the tensest corners in GPL (with the possible exception of the
Monaco chicane)!

I don't know how I managed without seat vibrations before - it really
makes the experience complete, and it's the first time that I really
started feeling that I was actually out there in a car.

I'm off on holiday tomorrow, so I'll see if cycling up l'Alpe d'Huez
[the main climbers' stage of the Tour de France] is any more dangerous
for my health than driving GPL cars!

What I do now for the added realism is have my son stand behind my with a
wiffle ball bat.
If I hit the guard rail or something like that, he wacks me on the head and
back a few times with the bat.
Talk about really wanting to improve, he has gotten a lot better with his
swing and wants to move up to an alluminum bat.
If I let him go to the aluminum bat, I will really have to work on my
driving line.
