Voodoo 3 2000, also available as a Voodoo 3 1000 OEM. Anyway, the card
runs GPL great at 800x600, even on my K6-2 336, racing the AI is pretty
smooth with 30-36 fps. However, if I up the res to either 960x720 or
1024x768, I get some weird texture corruption when racing the AI, but
never when hotlapping alone. For example, if I start a race at 960x720,
the graphics are normally fine for a while (varies depending on track,
but always less than a lap), but then I'll get weird things floating in
the sky, and black and white textures on the other cars, the track etc.
If I start a race at 1024x768, the corruption inevitably happens even
sooner, a few seconds after the flag drops. But when I'm just
practicing on my own, 1024x768 gives a constant 36fps and no
corruption. So, what is going on here? Any ideas? The easy solution
(the one I'm currently using) is to race at 800x600 :-) However,
increasing res doesn't seem to drop the fps much at all, so it'd be nice
to sort this out! Sorry for the long description....
My system is as follows:
Soyo 5EHM
K6-2 300 at 336
3dfx Velocity 100 8Mb
SB Live
64Mb Ram
No modem or NIC
GPL 1.2
Mirror refresh set to every third frame
The problem is the same using the Velocity drivers from the CD that came
with the card, or the Voodoo 3 2000 drivers ( which install fine) of
27-1-00. No checks (apart from 'disable splash screen') in 3dfx tweaks.
Thanks for any suggestions!
