I have recently purchased the CH Pro Pedals (http://www.chproducts.com)
(US$79 from Computability http://www/computability.com)
and they have two 'modes' configured with a switch-'Car' mode in which
they pivot forward and back (like car pedals) and 'Plane' mode, in which
they pivot like 'car' mode, but they also move forward and back around
the center axis like the rudders do. The regular CH Pedals (US$59) also
have this functionality. This 'car' mode is the main reason that I
chose the CH pedals over the Thrustmaster RCS (another was that they
were cheaper ;-) ) . The 'car' mode works great for Nascar and IndyCar
-I just have to get used to braking with my left foot-I drive a manual
transmission auto and all the left foot normally does is the clutch.
The 'car' mode allows much finer modulation of the gas/brake than
anything else that I have tried-drafting/bumping/etc is much easier
with these controls.
I think that IndyCar would also support the use of the RCS, but then you
have to gas or brake but not both at the same time (since the RCS does
not have the 'car' type forward/back pivot of the pedals.
Hope this helps-any other questions, let me know..
