An even more pressing question is which driver will be behind
the wheel of Williams #2.  Will we get a replay of Senna's death three
races into the season?

        Yes.

        You're joking ! I want 1996 cars ! With 1995 cars, this game

Yeah, but the '96 cars aren't much more than a gleam in the designers eye
as of yet. What the hell will they be like? At least with 95 cars we will
get an accurate perfomance/looks for the cars. I would much rather that
than some imaginary 1996 season. GIVE ME '95 CARS!

From what I understand it had to do with licensing.  They got it licensed for
the 94 season and it was such a pain there is no way to struggle back through
all that nonsense again.

I'm hoping they are going to include a nice little car/driver/helmet editor...
hehehe...

I hate to pint it out but the screen shots that were relased show the ferrari
412T1 with the raised nose, the 94 car.......

Latest I heard is that both Senna and Ratzenberger will not be in the game; it _would_
be bad taste IMHO.

I can't understand why they have to spend money for licensing.  As
far as they don't use the words Formula 1, the names of the teams and
the names of the drivers they shouldn't need licensing.  I think that
track layouts and names are no under copyright and they can give you
an editor to edit car colors and shapes (I don't want to talk about a
track editor because there were a couple of holy wars on this subject
 time ago :-)

Microprose has all the advertising they could desire from their F1GP
game, IMHO they don't need the words "Formula 1" in the game to sell
 it.

By the way, have you seen Damon Hill's home page at
 http://trek.microprose.com/damonhill/ ?

Never mind the cars, what about the circuits !  They've been modified pretty heavily
for this season and I used to like driving round the circuits in F1GP and comparing it
to the in-car shots.

Well, that as well, I guess. The '95 circuits are fairly similar to the '94
circuits after the post-imola panic. Not totally, I agree (e.g the stupid
Barcelona Tire-Chicane), but to a reasonable degree they are the same.
Ideally I would like both, but I *really* dont want things like Senna in a
Williams, Johnny Herbert in a Lotus and assorted Larousses' (sp?) going
around. I dont know the tracks exactly, but I do know all the drivers, and
I want to race against those I know are racing now.

On a (slightly) different note, anyone have any real ideas about the use of
the 94 or 95 seasons? Is it some licencing thing or something, because I could
never work out the reason for using the 1991 season for the original. As I
said in my original post, It cant be all that difficult to remodel the cars
to look like the raised-nose '95 ones. (The Benetton and Ligier especially :-) )

The one thing I really dont want is Ayrton Senna in the game. That would just
be unforgivable bad taste.

Just to complicate matters even more the FIA has announced that they
are changing the qualifying session rules for '96. Let's face it until
the FIA gets their shit together we're never going to be able to
duplicate tracks, rules etc....
