FTRA starts with new season

The FTRA (Formula Thunder Racing Association) is an off-line racing league
that uses Indycar Racing 2 created by Papyrus for its races. The second
season of the FTRA ended last weekend with the final race at Laguna Seca with
Don Ellis as the new champion. A new season, concisting of 16 races, will start
on june 15 at Phoenix. Are you intersted in competing with ohter humans in a
real championship using Indycar Racing 2? If you are, you should read further
in order to learn about how the FTRA will run the races.

The FTRA is intented for drivers who can compete with the CC's at opponent
strengths varying between 93% and 98%. If you can compete at opponent strengths
higher than 100%, you should not sign up for the FTRA. The (obvious) reason
for this is that you will win almost every race and reduce the fun for the
other drivers. Race distances will normally vary between 20% and 30%, making
it possible to end the race without pitting.

In the new season, the FTRA will use 2 divisions. This will allow less talented
drivers to compete with (almost) equally strong humans at a lower opponent
strength (2-3% lower than the first division. For every race the FTRA will set
pace lap, breakdowns and yellow flags ON and allows all drivings aids to be used.

On Wednesday before the race weekend, the settings (weather, race distance and
opponent strength) for that race will be posted. Race results have to received
by the director before 600 pm EST on Monday after the race weekend and the results
will be posted within a few days.

What else has the FTRA to offer? We have our own mailing list, making it very
easy to reach every driver in the FTRA. You could use it for e.g. for team/driver
news about the last race, questions, discussions etc. Also, our races are covered
by the Inside Online Racing magazine, which covers also other series.

If you are now really interested in participating or want more information, you
can visit our website at http://www.racesimcentral.net/
by e-mail.

Hope to see you soon on the race track!
