Please help a new DELL onwer!!!!

Ok, here's the situation.  I just got a new Dell which came with the
AWE64 PnP sound card.  I'm trying to get my ECCI wheel and pedals to
work.  But, first I need to get my game card to work!!!  I started out
with a CH GAMECARD3 that I had from my old system.  No luck, the sound
card's gameport always overrides the game card.  Then today, I went out
and bought a Thrustmaster ACM card.  I've tried 4 out of the 5 steps
that Thrusmaster recommends on it's web page.  None of them worked! :-(
(the only one that I did'nt try was method 3)....  Please, if anyone has
any idea what to do, please let me know!!!

Even in DOS mode, I can't get the wheel and pedals to work.

Thank you,
Jeff Lipack

No, I wish there was...  On my old computer, I had a SB AWE32 and it did
have a jumper, but on the new AWE64 there is'nt one.

Is there a jumper to disable the game card on the soundcard?  I had the
same problem on my old computer and this turned out to be the problem.

Unfortunately, with the oem service release 2 of win95, which I'm sure came
on your Dell, and your pnp sound card, this will be a thorn for you. You
can get it to work, go to device manager, click on sound, video, game
controllers, click on your soundcard, then click on your gameport, and
click on properties tab. Put a check mark in the "disable in this hardware
profile" box. Then, go to add new hardware, do not let windows search for
your hardware, click on sound, video, and game controllers, find the acm
gamecard, and click on add. This will activate your game card. Only problem
is, when you reboot, you'll most likely have to do it again. I ran into
that problem on my new Dell, got tired of doing it, removed the gamecard,
downloaded Thrustmaster's Propanel utility, and now run my T2 through my
soundcard's joystick port, work's very well.

Simply try using the port on the AWE 64.  I've used the port on an AWE 32
for two years and have had no trouble with it at all.  At one time I
actually managed to get the TM ACM card to work (my AWE has no jumpers,
either) but went back to the sound card game port--it seemed to have better
response.  Microsoft's new controller utility worked ok with my stuff--CH
Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and CH pedals, and TM GP1 wheel, but I downloaded
TM's Propanel and now use it because the wheel seems to like it a little
better.  I think the value of a dedicated game card as compared to the ports
on the newer game cards is not as great as it used to be.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Search your hard drive for ctpnp.Cfg.  In the [Gameport] section set
Disable = 1. This works on my Dell XPS166 with an AWE32.
