I just purchased an ATI 9800 128 mb non-pro from Circuit City for $199.  I
figure I'll be able to overclock close to the Pro version.  I am selling my
GF 4200 128mb to a friend for $75.  I was wondering what kind of frame rates
to expect?  I play at 1024x768 16 bit color, full field drawn and I get 36
fps at the start of the game and then higher as the field spreads out.  Any
performance information or known issues with the 9800 would be appreciated.
I won't be opening the card until Christmas, part of the deal with the wife.
Thanks.

You should be able to get up near 100FPS depending upon options.  I run a
9700P/P4-2.6/800 OC'd 375/325 and run 1024X768 32 bit 4XAA 4XAF (quality)
and am consistently above 80FPS in heavy traffic 25 cars ahead 10 behind,
most in game graphics maxed except shadows.

I highly reccommend Omega's drivers if you primarily run racing games.

With the newer  cards its not so much a frame rate increase as it is a
quality increase.  You should be able to run 32 bit color and 4x FSAA and 8x
AF at the same frame rates.  I went from a gf3 to an ATI 9700 pro and gained
frame rate by running a lower res [1024 vs 1280] and cranking up the FSAA
and AF to get an even better image than the GF3 at 1280. A true win win.
