The unit itself is identical ----- as is the technology.
The difference is in the fact that with the higher priced unit you
have jumpers and points where you can attach cables for dubbing ,
image grabing, etc.
There is also a provision for attaching 3-D glasses through a port.
These are things that most people are not going to want to utilize
in sim-racing so I think it goes without saying that the "white-box"
bersion is without a doubt the way to go.
The problem I have with it as locating one that is not bask-ordered
for months. Business interests get first dibs on these units for
their graphics imaging systems and so on, and a distributor will be
able to (by pure fact that he buys in lot) get first crack at them
above a one unit at a time sale as we individuals are reduced to.
If you can get your hands on a "white-box" grab it quick. But ----
I hate to say this ------- you will probably have to go the way that I
did -------- buying the "higher priced spread"
