Thanks!
Well, that seems to be a very good advice! I made only 3 laps with
Ferrari (Alison's setup), and I could shave my former 11:09.74 to
11:01.86! And in that lap I only twice went out of the track... :)
On the other hand, I was very careful not to drive too fast, when I
did not know, what there will be after the next corner... There seems
to be some room for making it still better... ;-)
Nearly 8 seconds is - I guess - quite much in my ranking, too... And
by only 3 more laps...
I'll still try some more laps before sending my new player.ini, though...
And there are also a couple of tracks I never really fell in love:
With a proper attitude I might get a few seconds from Rouen and Mexico, too?
This GPLRank seems to be quite an ***ive piece of software! ;-/
The only problem to me seems to be that I would love to drive this great
version of Imola also by myself...
I already thanked Dave in public, but if he happens to read my modest
mail: Again, big thanks to you Dave, fantastic work!
(And by the way, did you ever hear or read that they had a nice track
here in the very center of Helsinki from 1937 to 1963! In the 50's and
in the beginning of 60's they drove F3's, sports cars and also "Formula
Junior". There were also many Englishmen racing there:
-52: D.W. Powell-Richards
-53: R. Nuckey
-54: R. Nuckey, Eric Brandon
-55: Eric Brandon
-56: Eric Brandon, Arthur Owen, Lord Louth
-57: David Latchford, Arthur Owen, Michael W. Head
-58: David R. Piper, Ivor Bueb
-59: David R. Piper, Graham Whitehead
-60: Graham Whitehead, Jimmy Blumer, Arthur Owen, John Whitmore
-61: Douglas Graham, David Hitches, Ronald Hodgson, Ian
Harrison-Hansley, Bill McCowen
-62: David Hitches, Ian Raby Sr., Ian Raby Jr.,
-63: David Hitches, Klaas Twisk, David Cole
The streets of the track still exist, and there are lots of
photograpshs from the period of racing... The name of the track
was "Elaintarha", "The Zoo". The 3dr letter "a" should have 2 dots on top.
The GPL version would be a gem for F3 drivers, a nightmare to F1!
I can guess Dave has many more important projects, but when there
perhaps some day is an "easy-to-use" track editor for GPL, I really
would like to have a re-incarnation of this wonderful track...
)
Well...
