Ok, I know off topic but some of the best pc tech people are in this
group.
I have just upgraded to a Diamond Microns C400 motherboard, PII 400 and
64ram, about the only real thing I changed was from an Abit motherboard.
Now after my pc sits sometimes or even in the middle of anything the
keyboard and mouse will quit working. What ever is running even NR99
will keep going but the keyboard and mouse will not respond. I have
looked for any kind of conflict but can not find any, and check about
everything I can think of  Anyone got any ideas? I would be most
grateful.

Thanks
Morris Jones

Im not exactly a huge tech as far as components go but i know a thing or two
about electronics.  I had the same problem a while back and found that the
connector on my box for the keyboard was bad.  It wasnt picking up the
"signal", for lack of a better term, from the keyboard.  Odd thing to have
happen but it did.  Might look at that real quick (if u havent already).
Outside of that i cant offer anything.

Silly as it sounds, I used to have mouse/keyboard freezes when one of my dogs
would brush up against the case of my computer!  It turned out to be static
discharge from the fur rubbing on the case.  Perhaps you are getting static from
your pedals rubbing on the carpet  or your chair or something and then brushing
against the computer?  Did you ground the motherboard well inside the case when
you changed it?  Heat can sometimes cause a normally secure connection inside
the case to become a tiny gap, allowing a static charge to bridge the gap and
zap your keyb/mouse.

something to look at anyway

Check in the BIOS for some settings for any 'sleep' times...try setting them
to OFF or NEVER...
