What is FF supposed to be like?

by Bern » Tue, 01 Dec 1998 04:00:00

I had a go of a MS FF steering wheel in a shop of nfs3 and powerslide. My
idea of FF was that it would be like daytona scaled down of course, but
still I thought steer left wheel resists right depending on speed and so on.
With ratteling and sliding aswell.
Now I just want to know if this demo model was broken because I had barely
any resistance at all the occasional fling a second after I hit something
and lots of ratteling when I drove over wood briges in nfs3. What a load of
crap! No wondy papy left it alone, the wheel shaking and resistance was at
most a novelty that wore off 5 seconds after I started playing. Who the hell
at Microsoft thought people want to pay $400 for a flimsy kids toy? Please
tell me if this is all there is to FF wheels at the moment or if my
preconception is actually achiveable.

Thanks

Larr

NFS3 is a _horrible_ of Force Feedback... I'm not sure what you mean by this
but NFS 3 is one of the best games for force feedback. How many other gamed
detect the surface of the track like that?
