NFS2: Pacific Spirit track, what am I doing wrong?

by Roger Squir » Tue, 01 Jul 1997 04:00:00

I'm trying to approach the best time that is shown in the records
section for the Pacific Spirit track in NFS2, which is 4:05 for 2 laps
in simulation mode using the GT40.  The best I can seem to do using
this car is 4:25.  How can I improve this time??

In the car setup I have put the following options:
front spoiler:  medium
rear spoiler:  high
brake bias:   front
gear ratios:   short

As for track shortcuts, the first one (thru the parking lot) doesn't
do anything for time, and the second one (the dirt path) just
parallels the pavement (or am I missing something?) and is no help.

I'm using a T2 wheel, and it does seem to me that i'm having trouble
maintaining intermediate throttle settings, but other than that I
don't see anything obvious that I can improve.  Any tips or
suggestions would be appreciated.

use the pioneer cheat; type in "pioneer" on the main menu screen.  The
cars go faster and handle better.

I recommend using McLaren F1 default setting for this track. I usually
play 4 laps and get about 1:56 for each lap. First lap is a bit slower but
absolutely no more than 10 seconds due to the fast acceleration of McLaren
F1.

: As for track shortcuts, the first one (thru the parking lot) doesn't

I don't know the usage of the pavement. But the parking lot do improve lap
time. Try run as fast as you can when you approach the parking lot. When
the moment is right, strongly hit your car on the right side to quickly
slows down and add some brakes afterwards until 80-90mph and you can steer
into the parking lot smoothly and quickly. keep on the right-hand side
when you going up the grass ramp and turn left afterwards. If you don't
hit anything, you should be leaving the ramp with about 100mph. It should
be much faster than running with the normal way.

Practise makes perfect.
