I've been waiting and waiting for Motorsims' Trans-Am sim.  It was
originally going to be released just before the holiday season. Then we were
told that Motorsims decided to pull back the sim to completely redue it.
Since I haven't been able to get any additional information, I emailed Jure
to see if he had any updated info. This is the reply I received:

Hey,

They aren't answering any emails and I really doubt they will ever finish
the game. :(

Take care,

So it looks like the only way that I will be able to run the Trans-Am
series is with SCGT.  The only problem is that most of the present tracks
the Trans-Am cars run on, isn't in the sim.

go to speedsims.com and in the forums check out the F1CS2k section.  There
is a Trans Am patch being readied for that sim.

About a month ago I e-mailed one of the guys who works at Motorsims.
He told me he couldn't really say anything, but that they were still
working on the Trans-Am game.

I'm really, REALLY hoping they learned from the abysmal failure that
was AMA Superbike and are keeping their mouths shut until they have a
FINISHED product to release this time.  They have the talent, they just
didn't use the right approach last time.

How would you describe it, somewhere between GPL and SCGT or leaning
more to the GPL side.

thanx

Rich8...

I can't really describe it in those terms at all Rich....sorry.  It was a
very early, "pre-alpha" version really ......and we were looking at some
graphic issues and layout....not concerned with car physics.

How can something be pre-alpha?  That's like being pre-pregnant.

In other words, it is still in the design stages. Physics Model is not
complete, Graphics model isn't complete, not all features, tracks, cars,
ect are finalized and could/will change. Licensing issues still to be
resolved.

Almost like the same state WSC is/was in.

I'm just wondering who is winning the wars in the board room meetings..
The Business guys or the Simulation buffs? ;)

Although I would suspect they have progressed past the pre alpha stage
by now, I hope.

Izzy...

"Pre-pregnant".....is the state all women are in prior to becoming pregnant!

....lol....

Sorry....but the term "pre-alpha" has some esoteric meaning in the game
developers industry I guess....its one of those "buzz words" you
hear.....but not always sure what it exactly means?  I think Alan's
definition above is accurate enough....that describes adequately what I saw
with the TransAm title......nearly a year ago now.  It was a "back
room...closed door" thing at E3 in Los Angeles last year.  I can't comment
on the "state" of the TransAm sim at this time.

Joel, it's been completely rebuilt since last year, and has a whole new
physics engine under it.  It's due out in late Q2 or early Q3.  We will have
some more info on it VERY shortly...

Cheers!
