Has anyone noticed how much this conference can resemble the paddock at
a real meeting.
There are the rather arrogant, full-of-themselves racers who haughtily
show off......sometimes they are genuinely quick as well.
There are the "rich kids" who like to show off their latest expensive
kit - whether it actually makes them fast or not is another matter.
There are the old hands who are willing to help out the novices, secure
in their own abilities.
There are those who race for the fun of it, not bothered by the actual
competition, while others are obsessively competitive to the exclusion
of all else.
There are the techies who are fascinated by the nuts-and-bolts part of
setups, etc.
There are the real drivers who genuinely understand, and can discuss,
handling a car and driving techniques, rather than just chucking the
thing about and being slow or fast by luck more than skill.
There are the fanatics who think their style of car/racing is THE ONLY
real racing - others are more tolerant and wider ranging.
There are the ******ds who love nothing more than a huge crash and think
its all just a game......sadly NASCAR (especially) can pander to this -
in real life these people are scum!
But this conference does have much of the buzz of the paddock really
doesn't it?
Cheers!
