You should research that suggestion a little bit , it's not quite that
easy for some people OR ISP's for that matter.

Maybe a modem upgrade is in order?

This isn't mean't as a flame but some of us don't have the option of
having our ISP "turn it on". I do agree with you in some respect but
even at 14.4 I don't think it would be *THAT* bad.

Best Regards,
Andy

I vote no.  We have a binaries group already:

alt.binaries.simulators.autos

If your ISP doesn't provide you with access to this group, then
it's up to you to do something about it.

If binaries in this group are actively encouraged, then in no
time at all, we'll be swamped.  Even if the files are short, 20
50k messages a day certainly would be unpleasant on those who have
a 14.4k connection to the net.

Besides, as a discussion group, binaries aren't *supposed* to be
here.

Steve.

If there's a binaries newsgroup, post them in it.  Do not put that garbage in
this newsgroup.  Even you said it - "A good percentage of people don't bother
with the binaries groups."  We "don't bother" for a reason.

Since there is, in fact, a binaries group for uploading carsets and cars,
there is no reason to post them here, and therefore no controversy exists.

Oh, this is a whole lot better than the people who say "get better software"
or "get a better isp" when people complain about being forced to
download binaries that are posted here.

Maybe someone in a third world country cannot get their isp to carry it and
cannot get a better isp.  Perhaps this sounds familiar.
