There was some really nice GPL era footage, but mostly they just keep
stating that F1 cars are similar to aircraft.

Oh yeah, and it seems to just be a  huge adverti***t for HP and BMW

Well now, they DO follow the Williams team...

It was pretty good anyway, if it's the same that ran over here a year
ago. Always enjoy Frank's and Patrick Head's opinions. There's even
something for the F1-bashers in it, with Mansell giving his opinion
about things(extra credit for those that spot the irony!).

Speaking about allianz... I don't know if you've ever seen the Speed TV F1
coverage. For the first few races of the season they had the WORST computer
generated lap of the track (to replace the usual on-board lap with a
selected driver) to show the circuit. The CG williams was taking the wrong
lines, and going way to fast through corners and too slow through others..
etc. it didnt' look real at all. They woulda been way better off showing a
replay of F1C. Anyways, it was clearly sponsored by allianz, because every
change they got, they showed a huge closeup of the allianz sponsor on the
front wing of the williams.

Yeah I could see them showing the chicanes at montreal.   "The drivers
take this corner flat out with 2 wheels in the grass and 2 on the
kerb."  At Silverstone "the driver is flat out through the steep
uphill Bridge corner."  Monza..."the car carefully navigates the
classic down and up and down of the rollercoaster section of the
course leading into Variante Ascari, named after the great driver who
lost his life after hitting a polygon and being thrown from the car."

Has Mansell pushed his way over the 300 pound mark yet?

I was watching the race with a friend and his wife (who's not really
into racing, but she watched with us to humor him :) ), and even she
thought that the rendered track run was crap.   To paraphrase, "Why show
this as a track map?   Half the time they're just doing silly camera
movements that they can't do in real life just to show off, and you have
no idea what the track looks like!!"

I have to say I totally agreed with her.   And what was up with all the
aliasing on things like the grandstands in it?   Even my video card can
do anti-aliasing realtime, I expect more from pre-rendered stuff.

Didn't Speed get yelled at on their message boards for doing that at
Australia and Malaysia and, after purchasing a clue, stop doing that?
I wonder how much HP is paying them to show off an HP car in a video
presumably rendered on HP (budget?) computers?
