Question about recording engine sounds...

DOes anyone have any good techniques. I have a fairly decent recording
rig, somewhat protable, and a mini-disc recorder.

I live near Roush racing and FOrd, Detroit area, and so on and I think
it might be worth the trouble trying to get into these places and do a
bit of recording. I'd have an excuse to get to hear these things up
close, a 302 here, a 427 there, a Viper here and there.

That said, is there any value to anyone for these sounds?
