Second Chance: Spirit of Speed... 1957

I hope I'm not regurgitating old news here, but I just noticed a message
about a sequel to Spirit of Speed on Broadsword's website.

Didn't believe it at first, but they did answer my email and said that
"although it's on the backburner now we hope to release Spirit of Speed
1957 in 2003. Suggestions are welcome."

Well that seems like interesting news.. I think SoS was one of the best
*looking* and most atmospheric racing games (...sims...humhum) of its
day, although it suck... eh was rather challenged in the physics department.

If there will indeed be a Spirit of Speed 1957, maybe worth to let 'em
know that people took notice and have "a few suggestions" for a sequel
to this particular title.

Even in its challenged form, the original Spirit
of Speed has managed to spawn an intrepid group of
offline racers.  The third series in the Offline
Challenge, featuring the streamlined Auto Unions
and Mercs which were developed but not included in
the shipping version of SoS, is just wrapping up.

There was supposedly a demo of the new SoS engine
at ECTS this year.  Reports indicate that the new
engine has been tweaked to take advantage of all
the new graphic tricks which have appeared over
the past few years.

For anyone who might be interested, the current
home of the Spirit of Speed Offline Challenge can
