Even in its challenged form, the original Spirit
of Speed has managed to spawn an intrepid group of
offline racers. The third series in the Offline
Challenge, featuring the streamlined Auto Unions
and Mercs which were developed but not included in
the shipping version of SoS, is just wrapping up.
There was supposedly a demo of the new SoS engine
at ECTS this year. Reports indicate that the new
engine has been tweaked to take advantage of all
the new graphic tricks which have appeared over
the past few years.
