GP2, Linked with 1997 Carsets

I'm just about to network my two PC's and play GP2 linked.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that this will only work if the
original carset is in place.

I want to use a 1997 car set, will I have problems?

I've linked my two computers several times and use the 1997 carset. Works
great. I think I heard that maybe both computers should have identical
carsets, though. But that may not matter. It seems that the host computer
dictates what the connecting machine uses, therefore, all names and
performance info is transferred to the connecting machine. I'm just
guessing, here though!!! But, I have connected two machines with the '97
carset. So that answers your question!

You need to ensure that any patches, carsets, editors, etc, are
installed on *both* pc's, otherwise it will not work. You may even
need to load the patches, etc in the *same* order on both pc's?

Good luck.

A friend and myself linked up OK using the early '97 carset. I had
heard that some later carsets cause problems, but I assume that was
because other things like hp and grip had been altered.

In theory, if you both use identicaly modified carsets then there
should be no sync problems. Just ensure you use exactly the same one.
