Should we expect Test Drive 4 ?

If you're looking for a game that plays very much like Test Drive I and II,
check  out  Electronic  Arts'  The Need For Speed on the 3DO console.  This
simulator,  which  was written by the same development team as the original
Test  Drive  game, supposedly has accurate car dynamics.  I can't vouch for
whether  or not this is true because I've never driven a Lambo' Diablo or a
Ferrari  :-(  What I can tell you is that the graphics are just out of this
World,  in  fact when I first got the game, I didn't want to drive too fast
just  in case I missed any of the amazing scenery.  I reckon Test Drive III
was  written  by  a  different development team as it is quite different to
Test Drive I, Test Drive II and Need for Speed.  Having said that, Need For
Speed is probably the closest we're likely to get to a Test Drive IV game.

Ciao,

Should we expect Test Drive 4 ?

True, looking back, Test Drive I and II were terrible, partly on account of
their 2-dimensional approach and on the lack of true physics.  Test Drive III
was a step in the direction, but by no means a great game -- the sound
programmed for the PC Speaker was better than that programmed for my Sound
Blaster Pro (the engine revving sound was especially sick).  However, those
games were decent when compared to other offerings of their time (much better
than what Electronics Arts, among others, was offering).

However, I spent hours on those games back then, because those were the best
that were available.

I believe Stunts was actually produced by the same company, Distinctive
Software, that also worked on the Test Drive trilogy.

There's no guarantee that TD4, if it comes out, will be an excellent
simulator, but Accolade will have to produce a quality game if it is to
compete against even the current offerings.  From my experience, I would say
that Accolade is one company that doesn't put complete junk on the market.

I never played "Car and Driver".  Should I bother?

In Peace,

I dunno... okay, TD3 was not exactly the most realistic of driving sims
but if that could be changed we have to remember that the graphics were
okay and the concept I liked at least. The idea of just being able to
drive about, do what ya like and go wherever you want appeals.
