I saw a review of "Whiplash" in Strategy Plus, Jan 1996.. The screenshots
look good. Is there a demo available yet, and if so, what is the game like?

It's ALOT like "Screamer" by ***, so if you've seen that you've
just about seen "Whiplash".    Nothing but "arcade" describes the
graphics and action, not a simulator like Nascar or ICR, or even a
well done arcade game like Need For Speed.    If you don't have
NFS, Nascar or ICR2, don't waste your money on Whiplash, spend
it on one of the other three first.
