Aberdeen Computers?

Sorry for the off-subject post, but I need a little feedback from those of
you who've done business with Aberdeen. I'm presently looking into a new
system, primarily for flight and racing sims, and have been checking out the
OEM dealers for pricing and configurations. I stumbled onto Aberdeen
Computers' web site and have been very impressed with the variety of
components they offer. I can spec out a system to my exact desires within a
reasonable price range, which makes it very tempting to purchase. I just
need to know how well they deal with tech support, defective components,
returns, documentation, etc. I'd greatly appreciate all replies from anyone
who has dealt with Aberdeen. Thanks. Tom

I tried them out a few years ago. I had a problem with memory modules. I
sent them back so they could check them. I heard nothing for about 2 weeks,
Finally, I had to determine if they received the components. Unfortunately I
sent them via registered mail (US Postal service). I didn't get the receipt
back, so it took me two months to get the receipt from the post office, but
that's another problem. Anyway, Aberdeen received the modules but never
called me. After finally getting through to someone they told me the
components were OK and that it was not their problem. They didn;t know what
to do with the components so they did nothing until I called them and wanted
them returned, which they did. I think the components were actually ok and
the real problem was with the mother board...a Tyan mother board. I will
never buy another Tyan mother board, but that's another problem. The fact
that it took so much effort to get the matter handled makes me not recommend
Aberdeen. I have found that it's better to
pay a bit more for satisfaction and customer service.

Absolutely spot on Tore.

A computer supplier you can really trust is priceless. Being in the
fortunate position of having such a supplier I can can attest to having a
custom built PC, made up of quality components, is more than worth the extra
100 bucks or so.

Also, while it may be part of my job to tinker with customer's PC's, I don't
"work" on my own PC anymore. Peter (yup, we're on a first name basis ;-))
handles everything for me, quickly and professionally. Although I recently
had some serious downtime with an intermittent MB fault, he stuck at it
until he diagnosed the fault and repaired it with a minimum of expense.

Check out www.buyabs.com   That's where I got my current system and (so
far!) I'm satisfied. MCS
