Champ Car Legends? Any interest?

I have an idea to throw out to anyone interested. Papyrus put out GPL, The

"legends" treatment was the Champ Car series, and I seriously doubt Papyrus
will ever come out with one of those. However, I feel that we have the power
to create our own Champ Car Legends patch, it will just take some work and
dedication. Anyone else interested? If so, please read on...

First of all, I'm thinking it would have to be based off of GPL. It would be
set right around 1967, 68, etc., and GPL already has the shape and the
physics models. Grand Prix cars aren't Champ Cars, but that is about as
close as you're going to get. The shapes can get tweaked a bit, and you
could probably monkey with the performance of the cars, but it would be
close enough. Of course, you'd only be able to run against 16 cars, or so,
but would the really be that bad?

Next, here is what would need to be done:

The cars would have to be painted. I have a couple of old copies of Racing
Pictorial magazine which have some pretty good color pictures of the 1967
Indy 500 field. I would be willing to paint the cars up, as that is my field
of expertise. I would also be willing to do all the other graphics. Anyone
else who wants to help with this is also welcome.

Then, you've got the tracks. I see that there is a N3 -> GPL oval converter
out there. I'm not entirely sure which tracks made up the 1967 Champ Car
circuit, but I'm sure some of them are in N3 (Indy, etc.). Some, however,
are not. I think suitable replacements can be found, though. For instance:
Gateway for Trenton, etc. Of course, someone would have to fix the AI for
the tracks. I know next to nothing about any of that, so we'd need someone
to volunteer for that.

Those would be two of the big things. I don't know if any other things could
be changed: rolling starts for standing starts... etc.

If anyone wants to help me, please get in touch. Any contribution will
help... no matter how small! Thanks!

The only problem with that is that it would be Identical to GPL wouldn't it?

All the cars we're very, very alike back then, thats why the F1 cars could
race at Indy.

Although, it might mean that it would be GPL geared towaords ovals, which
might be nice to try, everyone seems to like the taster Dave Noonan gave us.
