Ouch... slowdown at Laguna Seca and Mid Ohio

Ouch... slowdown at Laguna Seca and Mid Ohio

I've seen people complain about slow frame rates at the O Ring before now,
but on my 450a/V3 setup I had no problems. But Laguna and Mid O (the only
two tracks I've converted today) are giving my system severe grief. If I
race at 1024x768 (my normal choice) and low detail (slider to the left
etc) my frame rate drops very badly at most corners... down to 22ish, and
it's up & down like a yo-yo, making life pretty dismal. Dropping to
800x600 seems to just about cure this, but it's a severe sacrifice for
anyone used to 1024! <fx:visual pain>

Mmm... maybe I should've bought a new processor before I invested this
month's spendies in some more RAM (while prices are still low).

I'm having the same slowdown on my Athlon 550/V3 box. It's a common
thing with converted tracks, they are not as optimized as tracks
made by Papy, I guess.

Nevertheless, Portland, Mid-Ohio, Road America, I'm in GPL heaven!
Thanks, Mr.Noonan!

Now I can stand the wait for CART2. Uh, there will be a CART2, right?
Is there anybody listening? <sobbing in the background>

No, my ICR2 doesn't have the rendition stuff. I've tried Alison's graphics
update and that doesn't make a difference to frame rate.

How would you know?  Is there a 'Rendition' directory on the CD?

No I haven't. Alison has a page which tells you where to look.
