For months it has been impossible to retrieve messages posted before 15 May
1999. It is meant to be a temporary thing, but I see no attempt by them to
end it or I find no explanation why it is happening.

Does anyone else have the feeling that the general Internet community is now
having to pay because of a small group of peoples greed?

Actually now that they dumped their commercial boringness (I'm darn happy
for them, lesson learned), I think the archives now go as far as December of
1998. But it's obvious they are going down, very soon probably. There is
many lega problems also with archiving such thing. It's technically
"illegal".

There is an online petition somewhere for what you want, can't remember
where.

I don't really know Eldred, the Internet seems to be changing and I don't
know if it's all for the best?

Every time I use deja (and I use it a lot) I'm amazed it exists (how many
Gb of HD space do they have??? :-) And I'm even more amazed it's free.

Of course, if it wasn't free I wouldn't do so much searching. Catch22 for
all web enterprises I guess.
