I read in a post below that Ed Martin left papy. This means he isn't
running NROS, then who is? The other question is, who will be left of the
origonal team after the whole Sierra take over settles down? If r.a.s. were
to make a racing game, we would probably  be the only ones making quality
sims anymore, especisially looking at the fall of papy, just think of the
cool little co-op we'd have, Not to say itwould even have a 1% chance of
suceding. Just an example.

<<The other question is, who will be left of the origonal team after the

I'm certainly no prescient genius, but this is exactly what I said in
correspondence to Sierra/Papyrus, and in this newsgroup, many moons ago.
I would be willing to bet actual American money that a year from now,
the Papyrus name will be but a memory, and the next edition of NASCAR
will be written by the people who code Leisure Suit Larry.

Think that's farfetched (well, maybe the Leisure Suit Larry part...)?
Look at N1. Then look at N2. I was under the impression that successive
versions of a product were supposed to be *improvements*...

Bart is that all you do is find something to *** about, I hardly
ever see you say anything constructive just destructive. You moan and
moan cry about this and taht .Why dont you lighten up and become a
programmer with a deadline and guys crying for the next project to be
done on time and show us how it should be done. You seem to have all the
answers so show us something instead of ***ing so much.Damn!

Gee, Paul -- are you upset with me?

OK, I'll show you something: The latest issue of "Interaction", Sierra's
house rag, just hit my mailbox today. Although N2 and ICRII are
mentioned many times, there is not a single use (that I can find) of the
name Papyrus in the entire issue. What does that tell you?

BTW, I don't have all the answers, I have all the questions. There's a
difference, you know.

What do you use to read this newsgroup, Pauly? Every browser I've ever
seen identifies the message sender (it's right there under "sender",
see?). If you don't like my posts, don't read 'em. I won't hold it
against you.

I dont know about you Bart but i could of swore that Seirra bought out
Papyrus of lets say 6 mos or so ago so thats  more than likely why you
dont see Papy mentioned because they are now part of Seirra. If I'm wrong
correct me.

Well still maybe if you treid to write some programs maybe you would see
how much is involved and would stop your complaining because of some
glitch. And because you cant have a patch the next day when you find a
problem.

Oh ya i see it and I knew what it tells me and i just thought i would
see if you have anything good to say but never noticed anything. Was
hoping you had something constructive to say thats all.But from you
expressed attitude i can see that will never happen.

Care to elaborate on what is you don't think is better in N2?

- Graphics
- Tracks
- Cars
- Setup screen
- Replace screen
- Race menus

I think if you were to poll the users of both N1 and N2, you would find
that the vast majority find N2 to be an improvement. I'd like to hear what
it is that leads you to the opinion that N2 is not an improvement over N1.

<snip>

Well, I just received my copy of Interaction and my copy must not be the
same as the "special redacted" version you recieved.

pg 12:  "Upcoming Issues"  "Watch for future interviews with ...
*Papyrus'* head speed demon, Dave Kaemmer."

pg 88: "***ed to SODA"  "We live for the next big *Papryus* racing
release.  That's why we went into mourning when the *Papyrus* developers
recently let us know that Grand Prix Legends wouldn't be available until
Spring 1998. . . pre-alpha version of *Papyrus'* new SODA Off-Road
Racing..."

pg 89: same article "The folks at *Papyrus* have big plans...  We've
made *Papyrus* promise..."

"What does that tell" me?

Hmmmm. Then how come so many people bought Windows 95? If five will get
you ten, ten will get you twenty...hot and cold running beer, flowing on
the lawn...your grandmother's paisley shawl...

It tells ME that I don't read Interaction very closely. You got me on
that one, Michael...

But what about THIS:  Why don't you say that NASCAR should take out a
lease on Bristol and fly to Dover Air Force Base where they use asfault
as the main ingredient in bouillabaise? Soft ice cream is delicious.  AI
YI YI YI CHIHUAHUA ......

DAMN! I'm gonna go put a bucket on my head. You have to admit, though,
that it was VERY small type...

As the umbrella gets bigger that covers Papyrus Design Group (CUC ->
Sierra -> Papyrus), we maybe seeing what you feared.  At least at the
present Papyrus still exists as a "marketable" name for Sierra.  But, you
are right that for all of the "ads" for NASCAR2 not a single mention of
Papyrus could be found.  Hmmmmm.
