I think not. Even though we have been waiting for 'a while' for F1GP2, the Gods of MPS have
decided to base F1GP2 on the 1994 season. That was Adelaide, wasn't it? As to why they are
basing a game released in 1996 (hohoho! Hopefully!) on a season two years out of date, Geoff
only knows.

Will the new F1 grand prix 2 game come out with the new Melbourne circuit on
it? I hope so, they've delayed it so long, that they should.

Ever heard about telemetry? Original F1GP mentioned Footwork in it's
credits, so I guess Geoff used their telemetry to model car handling
on different tracks. F1 teams have simulation software to estimate
their performance on different tracks, and based on McLaren's simulation
Melbourne will be a very fast track. Simulation is still only simulation,
like (I think it was) Tyrrell noticed, when their simulation was way
off from the real performance at Estoril.

Maybe Papyrus didn't have access to telemetry information from all
the tracks, as the car speeds are way off from the real things at
some tracks ;-?

Actually, it's been stated by microprose and other people who heard about it
(many times in this very newsgroup) that it is due to licensing considerations.
I suppose if they can get the licensing rights for a more current car/driver
lineup, they will.

The FIA likes to control these things, as you may well know.  It becomes a
matter of $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Have fun.

F1GP2 will be based on the 94 season (I think) so it will contain the
Melbourne track. It would be impossible to include it since the track is not
completed, there is no accurate information on what it will look like
(sponorship signage, curbing heights, etc.). Therefore the game should (will)
contain the "Sensational Adelaide" Australian F1 GP at ADELAIDE. If it is
based on the '94 season then the majority of the signage in the game should be
"Sensational Adelaide" logos while racing at the Aussie GP (Plus a couple of
EDS, Malboro, and Fosters logos). Melbourne will have to wait until F1GP3 or a
track update pack before it will appear in the game. By that time the
Australian GP may have become the Indonesian, Chineese or Malaysian GP.

It's actually because they couldn't get accurate 1995 data. The data was
given to them from the 1994 season. If they'd wanted 1995 data we'd have
had to wait another year and had the same argument about us wanting 1996
or 1997 cars. Anyway, I'd much rather have a season with 28 cars than
20.. wouldn't you.

Hmm... I read in about three places that it was due to licensing considerations.
Sorry.  And yes, I agree about wanting 28 cars instead of 20! :)  I don't want
the emasculated Spa Francorchamps and all the rest of the bogus chicanes,
though.
