Trustmaster T3 springs - do they break after 2 hours?

by Lutz Goerk » Sat, 07 Nov 1998 04:00:00

Is it true that the steering wheel springs of the TM T3 (Formula One)
are not that good and have to be replaced after a few hours?
Do they sent softer peplace springs which last longer but are
not that good for the overall steering feeling?
Any comments?

Thanks!

Lutz

In the wheel there are no springs, but the pedals have and they do break
quite often...but not in 2 hours. Mine lasted 3 months...and they sent
replacements very quickly.
The wheel itself has a bungee-cord in it, and it last at least a year, and
you can replace it yourself.
I think the replacements have good feeling, I couldn't feel any difference
compared to the originals.

That sounds good. Do they sent them for free?

That sounds even better - I think I`ll get the TM T3.

Thanks!

Yes, usually for the life of the product (however, they have
discontinued support for the T1 unit recently -- the T1 is over 5 years
old).  The newer springs should last better than the original line.
However, they are slightly "softer", but once one gets used to them,
they feel just fine.

Or you may want to consider the NASCAR Super Sport, better pedals and
the wheel can have 6 buttons in Win95.  The only thing missing is a
stick shifter.  Should be about $20.00 cheaper than the NASCAR Pro.

A much better wheel, overall, IMHO.

The only unknown is the reliability of the Super Sport, it being a new
wheel.

Damned shame they insist, even with all the ***ing, on using that
single-screw mounting system for the wheel to shaft mount.  While the
feel of the wheel is, IMHO, much better than the TM Pro, the damned
thing still rocks back and forth in your hand because they were too
cheap to spend $1 on a 3***mounting system.
