Dear Friends and Sim Racers,
Well it's been almost 2 glorious years since my BBS left the domain of
dial-up access to mount the World-wide Web and become The Pits.
In those 2 years I've really seen the inside of the Sim Racing
industry, gained a lot of knowledge, passed on a lot of knowledge and
met people who I can truely called friends.
I've been praised, I've been slated, mis-understood and
misrepresented and at times, threatened with lawsuits!
But whatever happened, I've always done it with the interests of you,
the sim racers in mind. I hope I've represented you well.
Whats this all about I hear you ask?
Well after 2 years it's time for me to move on and leave my square of
tarmac of the Information Superspeedway in the hands of others and as
such I'm now standing down and leaving The Pits.
This past month has seen my involvement in the TPTCC project and I
feel that my contribution in my last 'big' project was a perfect
opportunity to give my best. Thanks for all the praise and feedback you
gave on the project - myself and the others involved appreciate it.
But, as they move back into the garage to work on for the next big
one, I'm off to the motorhome to hang up my helmet.
I won't disappear completely - I'll still be involved in projects here
and their and I'll certainly be in r.a.s every so often - but from now
on I'll just be lurking in the paddock, showing my head when it's
needed.
So what does this mean to you lot?
Well, The Pits will continue with Jan Kohl in charge - he's
practically ran the whole team for the past year with me in the
background weilding a spanner from time to time to tighten things up a
bit.
He's comitted to The Pits future and has promised to keep it going for
as long as he can - so please help him out!
The European Mirror will probably remain although the UK mirror hangs
in balance at the moment.
As for what I'll be doing? Well I can't say - not because I don't want
to but
I'm contractually obliged not to.
What I am allowed to let you know is that I'm contracted to work on
some new
'software' which over the next few years in probably going to find
itself in the hearts of most new sims you buy - even if the developers
don't know it yet.
Because of this, my name won't be in any of the credits but my code
will probably be in their somewhere!
A return to racing is also on the cards for next year although at the
moment I'm a bit undecided on what to do - although my racing license
has enough signatures to let me be a BTCC privateer......
Anyhow, I'd just like to say thank you to you all for the past 2 years
and I hope
in the future I can give sim racing something back.
Cheers
Jed - The Pits
