Is there a Windows application that will record sounds emitting from my
computer (ie sounds from GPL) when I race and save them as mp3s?

You could try running cool edit or something recording while
playing gpl.  Never tried it though, it might make gpl
pretty jerky.  If you have a digital o/p on your soundcard,
you could feed it into a consumer cd recorder or another pc
to record.

I use AudioActive Production Studio for wav->mp3, best i've
come across yet in terms of sound quality.

a shareware program called TotalRecorder might do it...it intercepts everything
going
through the soundcard and saves it in various formats.
