What do you mean with "like MS Flightsim" ?

Realistic? Public roads and traffic? Expandable? Learning how to drive on
the PC?

Jan.

That depends...by a car simulator, do you mean just a driving sim?  There
are
several of those, but here we are mainly concerned with racing simulators.
Formula 1, Nascar, Sports Cars, rallies etc.
If you are looking for "JUST" a plain ol driving sim, there is one that
Sierra put out two years ago that was aimed at drivers gettting their
license(it was called Drivers Education, I don't know if it is still
available.)  So that  is the focus...just driving and learning the rules of
the road.
If you meant racing sims, then just take a trip to your local software
store and you will find lots of racing titles....Motorcycles, Formula 1, off
road.  Lots of
variety...However, one warning ...avoid a title called Grand Prix Legends.
It
will seem like a beast to a new simmer and eventually will consume your
time, your life and your carreer....:)

What sort of car would you like to simulate?  Olde Style racing cars? then
try Grand Prix Legends.  Modern F1? then try Grand Prix 3 or F12K.

Rally driving? then you've got Colin Macrae 2, or Pro Rally.

I don't think that you can get a simulator which simulates just driving in
different cars.

Hope this helps

Actually, I do quite a bit of flying in GPL. Then some rallycross
trying to find a gap in the barrier to get back on the track.
