.sig galore or what?
I will have my copy of NASCAR bronzed, too.
The manual that comes with it seemed so promising, a hefty 100+ pages maybe,
but to my amazement I discovered it was a multi lingual shit-strike, no pics,
no info, only fast and easy, really shallow worthless piece of make money fast kind
of crap.
I guess Papyrus, or *** Moneytainment, got some second-rate el cheapo
company to scrabble it all down. "And no pics," said ***, "it takes too much
space, and hence costs too much green stuff."
Take a look at your F1GP manual or your IndyCar manual, those are really something,
especially the former. I guess Papyrus needed so badly to release NASCAR before
christmas that quality had to take the boot.
The games business is sooo worried about all the illigal copying. One way to
avoid this illigality is to make no short cuts like the one Papyrus (or ***) made.
Another problem is of course the retail price which is overinflated in most cases
because they don't deliver nearly enough. Papyrus makes excellent sims but they
have in the NASCAR case forgotton all about the other side, the manual. They should
have put a sticker on the game saying that since the manual stinks this game costs
ten quid less. Further it should say: An updated manual will be available on
Internet by FTP and at our BBS. You could also get the updated manual by snail mail
if you register your copy with us.
Have anyone seen the manual for Tornado, a flight sim that was published in 1993?
It's state of the art, it's flight school for the wanna-be.
What I am saying is that a manual is your guide into the alternative universe
that any sim provides. The manual is there to make it more real(or like a fantasy).
In addition to description of the actual sim, the manual should provide an all
together summary of the universe you are about to enter and make you stay there.
A manual should be like a stepping stone into the world it so dearly want you to be
a part of.
If the game is very good, like NASCAR, there is no excuse for making a crappy
manual. A good game deserves a good manual, and an extremely good game deserves
an even better manual, period.
