Hey Rick...how about these questions?

Hey Rick, got a couple of questions for you.  BTW, thanks alot for monitoring
this newsgroup and providing all of us racing fans/drivers quick input....

1)  At Martinsville, I got tagged in the rear coming out of turn 4.  I slid
backwards, down pit road, at about 100 mph or so.  Did a 180 as the caution
came out, continued down pit road (at about 75 mph), and got back out on the
track without losing very many spots.  (Hellofa move, too!)  I'm glad
I didn't get blackflagged for that, as in a "real" NASCAR race I wouldn't
have, but how come I didn't get blackflagged in the game?  Does the game have
that facet programmed in, or was it just a fluke?

2)  This is my major gripe with the game.  I've noticed, that when a wreck
happens, I see "Pit closed" appear on the screen, signifying that a wreck has
happened on the screen.  However, the competition always can seem to stop on a
dime and if I continue at a pace fast enough to keep my position, I ram into
the pile of cars and destroy mine.  Yet if I slow down, I lose positions to
racers who can scream past me, yet stop on a dime.  Is there anyway to change
this?  It seems to me that racers approaching a massive pileup would slow way
before they get to it, not approach at racing speed then slam on the brakes.
(And still be able to stop).  The other part of this is it seems to me it
wouldn't be too hard to program the game to say "Wreck in turn 4" or whatever
when an accident happens so at least you know where the wreck is.

Thanx for your help.

Cheers!

It was a fluke; you should have been blackflagged.

We continue to work on the AI for NASCAR. The version of NASCAR used with
the multiplayer service has such a spotter feature (e.g., "Big Trouble in
the Back Straight"); I'm sure it will eventually work its way into
mainstream NASCAR.
