The -real- reason Hill retired...

As we know, he's one of the more vocal drivers when it comes to criticising
current F1 machinery.

He bought GPL, raced his dad, and thought "Hey this is much more fun!"

That, and a career as a TV presenter on Channel 5 beckonned...

Where do you think he'll end up?  Has his helmet been hung up for good?

I realize this is grossly OT, but nevertheless...

The Jordan may not be up there with the McLarens and Ferraris,
but it is NOT an uncompetitive car.  Just take a look at Frentzen's
points total.

Personally I'd hoped Hill would have waited a bit longer
before making the announcement.  Things always seem to get better for
him in the second half of the season.

I believe Jarno Trulli warped into the back of Alesi in
Montreal.  :-)

Personally I think he'll end up with a ride in CART.  He could still command a
fairly high salary, and have a more competitive team.  I dont think Damon is
ready for home life yet!!

He probably retired for the same reason that most racing drivers do - he
didn't have a drive in a competitive car.

Once you've won the championship, I'm sure it's no fun going back to the
wrong end of the grid and fighting it out every time.

Anyway, with the change to slippier tyres, F1 was probably getting more
like GPL all the time...

Personally, I hope you're right!

Sidebar: Leo Mehl was recently watching his IRL machines in action, and was
overheard to say: "One good thing---these guys aren't going anywhere!"
