Ok... I've only had the program for about a week, but I have some
problems/suggestions for Microprose.
- Why weren't steering wheels included in the list of controls, especially the
extremely popular Thrustmaster T1 and T2? Surely this would have been easy
enough. The manual was less than helpful in getting the wheel set up.
- Why are settings like steering lock and steering sensitivity (or whatever
it's called) locked into the steering control rather than included in the car
setup? Surely those are things that can be changed in a car setup and will
differ from track to track, and may even differ between qualifying and race
setups for the same track.
- The manual stinks. Period. After having the pleasure of finding information
in Papyrus' manuals for Nascar Racing and Indycar Racing II (everything is in
there, and it's VERY clear), I find the F1GP2 manual to be confusing and
lacking in useful information.
- The user interface is equally as hideous. Again, I have to compare to
Papyrus' games. Yes, F1GP2 contains more "realism" in the car setup; practice,
qualifying, and race modes; and in graphic detail. But the Papyrus menu
structure is simple and elegant. Something similar could have easily been done
for F1GP2 without having to sift through menu after menu trying to find some
setting.
- How about default setup files for each track? Are they saved anywhere?
Again, the manual is less than helpful.
- The driving is good, the gameplay is good, the graphics are good... but you
really need to go back to the drawing board for the rest.
Regards,
Steve
