I used one of these fairly successfully for a while, until it broke :-(
I was able to set up any of the buttons to do anything I wanted in
Nascar's control setup screen (I don't think I ever tried to get the hat
to do anything, though). Nascar's setup is pretty easy - for each
function (like acceleration, braking, or shifting) just press the
joystick button you want to assign to that function, or push the handle
(for example, joystick forward = accelerate). Works great. Good luck!
