NSR Auto Clutch -- WTF?

by Marc Collin » Tue, 01 Mar 2005 01:29:27

I have the left paddle on my MOMO wheel set to clutch, for those rare times
you need to de-clutch in a hurry.  I have Auto-clutch on, but it is wildly
dysfunctional.  You can put the car in gear and floor it and it just sits
there bogged down as though you didn't have a working clutch or were too
dumb to use one.  The manual clutch paddle is also disabled for the first 5
seconds or so!?!?!!  After that, you can play with the clutch to get the
revs up a bit, but it is already too late.  You've been run over in the pits
already by then.

What combination of settings (including in the .PLR file) do you need to use
to get an auto-clutch that works like the one in NR2003, NT2004 or GTR???

Rev it in neutral, then drop it into 1st, then feather the accelerator to pull away.

You would have to rev it to about 8000 rpm for it not to bog down to idle
immediately.  It is completely unrealistic and dumb.  See GTR or NR2003 for
how to do it properly.
