I've been looking for a shareware screen capture program for getting PCX,
BMP, etc... from NASCAR replays.  I downloaded Screen Thief 1.58 for DOS,
but couldn't get NASCAR to run when it was installed.

I've seen a lot of Web pages out there with great screen shots and was
just wondering how you got them.

Thanks for any help,

Mark

Press the asterisk key on the number pad of your keyboard to have
shots of the current screen saved as PCX files.  The first one will be
named NASCAR01.PCX, the second NASCAR02.PCX, etc.
The counting starts over everytime you exit and reenter the game, so
if you want to save any of the screen shots, make sure to copy them
elsewhere or rename them before you restart the game.  Otherwise, the
next time you press the asterisk key it will overwrite the files,
starting with NASCAR01.PCX once again.

I use pcxdump, you can do a search at http://www.yahoo.com and find it.
I know lots of others in the group use it also.

Mark,
When watching a replay you want to capture, hit the * button. Then
look in your nascar main dir and you will see a file nasc001.pcx.
 It is built in.

I catch my screen shots on Nascar Racing by hitting 'shift and the print screen' keys
at the same time.  If your pre season testing....hit pause first, if your on Hawaii, and
happen to notice that you just turned your best lap ever at Dega, it will cause a split
second delay in the action.  When finished racing, go to Windows Explorer or File
Manager, and there will be a paint file named NASCAR 1 or NASCAR01, I forget which, and
open it up in paint.

To get screen captures, all I do is hit print screen and it saves the
files to .pcx files in the nascar directory

I just hit the * key and it saves a PCX file of the screen.
I created my animated screen on my URL by using the * key.

Okay, next question--how is it possible to take screenshots from the "end
of the race" screens, i.e. the "finish line"" graphic for winning a race?

I would assume you hit the * key then also.. But, you know what
happens when you assume! :)  I guess I've never tried it at that
point and time.  I think I'll try it tonight...

You can capture during replays also. So just go back in time where a cool
event happened and... walla.  The one side effect is that you get all
that control button stuff on the picture, but you can edit it out later.
