I was out on the MP info web page checking on my stats when I noticed
that it said there are now three amateur drivers...Does anyone know what
it takes to become an amateur driver.

These details can not be broadcast at this time.  However, it requires a
minimum number of races at every track and a minimum skill rating at at
least one track per category.  Look at the stats for drva, ScottAllen,
Nimc, and SweetAl.  You can deduce for their stats what the requirements
look like.

From what I've seen it takes multiple starts at EVERY track.......
Plus, lots of money for long distance or residency in the Boston area.....

It doesn't take lots of long distance.  There are a couple of drivers on
the verge of becoming Amateur that have less than 100 races.  That's 2-3
races per week since April.

The emphasis must be on quality starts.  Pick a track that your best at
in each classification and concentrate on finishing well at each of
those tracks about 10 times.  League racers will advance better than
pickup racers.

So David, is an Amateur rating going to be considered better on NRL once
it's up and running, or will the skill level be the determining factor on
who races against who?  I noticed the overall skill levels of the Amateur
drivers weren't as high as other drivers who were still considered rooks.
( I know that Dega heads will have high overall skill levels even though
they don't race at all tracks )

Thanks for the input.

You will race with others in your rating classification.  Rookies
against Rookies, Amateurs against Amateurs.  The overall rating will not
be a factor in NRL, it may still be a factor in user-created series
races where the director determines the eligibility factors, however
that is mearly speculation at this point.

David,

Excuse my ignorance, I'm not sure I recvd all of the posts concerning
this (above), and I'd like to make sure I have this straight.  To
achieve amatuer status, you have to have a certain FPavg at each of the
different categories of tracks; speedways, one mile ovals, short tracks,
& road courses?  If so, what is this FPavg?  Are there other factors?
Please forget all of the other sarcastic ***you've recvd on this and
give us the real skinny. Especially whatever is going to pertain to NRL.
As I've said in earlier emails to you, I'd like to say in this group,
THANK YOU!! for the MP Analyzer.  Its Excellent!

The information that David Martin was posting on his web site was
based on confidential information we had provided to him regarding the
NASCAR Racing League.  In addition, and more importantly for purposes
of this thread, it was based on out-dated formulas and NRL divisional
structure.

We are not yet ready to disclose the NRL divisional structure.  The
"amateur" concept has to do with NRL divisions, not a change in the
way skill levels are calculated.

I'm sorry that I can't give you more information at this time, but I
do want to make sure that people understand that the information on
David's site was unauthorized and incorrect.
