NASCAR Racing - help!

Ok, we've done the obligatory purchasing, testing, fixing, downloading,
setting up, etc.  We now have installed and working:

1
1 NASCAR Racing game
1 Track Pack
2 Car Sets ('95 and '96) - thanks to all who created these!
1 Sound Card
1 AMC Game Card
1 ThrustMaster T2 Steering Wheel/Pedal set

Only problem is I can't seem to drive worth a darn (sort of like my real
driving track record ;)  ).

Any suggestions on which tracks/car setups are the best to learn on?  I don't
know much about car setups, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!  Also,
I downloaded and expanded the car setups, but don't know how to use them!

I suppose I deserve this (blushing with head***) for posting
a question before checking myself.  When I got home, I found
where to change car sets (great job - btw).

However, I'm still looking for any advice on best tracks/setups
to learn.  If any of you seasoned vets have some advice for a

Thanks again!

Hi, michelle. Nice to see there are some people who are simply forced to
learn about race car set-ups!!
Before you start, I have to warn you: you are entering a field of knowledge
about as large as any other science; there are a million possibilities, and
there is so much litterature availiable. Try your local bookstore!!
One hint is; start with the already supplied setups, easy and so on. Try and
learn to drive these first, and see if you can "feel" anything. Most is based
on if the car has a tendency to go straight on, or spin around itself. (Push
or understeer, loose, or oversteer). Then find out what your driving style is
like.
Just keep practicing!!

Cheers,
Matthew.

Michelle,
It hasen't been around very long but may I suggest you try our site
The Pits?

We've got a fair bit of stuff on Nascar/Indycar as well as our set-up
and track guides.

We're trying to add more. but you should find something of use there.

I can only speak for myself, but what I did was make the car damage
proof cut the opp. down to 90% and teated the car like I treat my
wife<(with gentle and loving hands).  I'm 42 and have never done any
*** before, other than PONG,and for me the learning curve is a long
slow climb.  I found that the Bristol track is best to start on due to
the fact that you don't have the speeds and the banking is so steep it
holds you to the track quite well. Whatever you do don't give up as it
does turn into fun once you get the hang of it.  One more caveat, don't
judge your progress by the postings you see here. I think some of
these people were born with a silver joystick in their hand. <g>
