"watch." k, so the off-line Indycar 2 in real time couldn't really be
watched, but a couple math formulas and you could figure out an estimated
amount of laps for each team to keep track of some realistic real time
standings. Talking to the racers was great, and hearing their stories about
their T2 breaking at hour 22 and losing a couple positions really is pretty
exciting for off-line racing.
Anyhow I don't suppose there is anyone working on doing this again? With a
save game feature SC:GT would be quite good for this, but without it I don't
see how we could switch drivers. a true real time endurance race seems the
only way to make on-line racing a legitimate competition or getting close to
sport. A 20 lap 10 race is just a chess game without much physical wear and
tear, but going 24 hours trying to race (Try it with force feedback :))
really starts to wear you out and that is where the true champions come.
I would love to see 20 some teams (Drivers, Spotters and Pit chief --No need
for tire changers to be human--) with live communication between them all on
a live on-line track with variable weather with thousands of real
spectators. It could start out with Sponsors starting a ;league where TSW,
Logitech, Thrustmaster could choose people to make a great team in order to
prove their products were the best. And then the birth of on-line
professional racing.
OK so where to we meet on IRC... :) I hope it was a good read anyway.
