GPL GEM 67 Mod query?

by pjgt.. » Mon, 27 Feb 2006 05:20:36

I know this is an old one guys, but I'm stuck trying to get GPL
(v1.2.02) working with the 69 mod?

I've just rebuilt this pc (put in bigger hd and upgraded win98se to
win xp) and its been working fine for a month or so.

I installed GPL onto the new hd, and updated it using the all in one
patch to v1.2.02.

I installed the carsound patch.

I installed the 65mod.

I installed the 69 mod.

Now when I load GPL (using Igor, or using my GPL shortcut icon) even
though the green button appears in the bottom right hand corner, I
cannot select the green button to actually go to race!

Anyone have a cure for this, thanx....

What happens if you go to the GPL directory and click on the
GPL.EXE file? Does it run? (Let's at least eliminate the
possibility that iGOR and/or your desktop shortcut don't have
errors in them.)

Yes GPL.exe file runs ok, and I can start GPL using Igor/Gem, and I
can start GPL using my own GPL shortcut.

I can select a driver, select a car, cailbrate my wheel, change the
options, etc, etc. But when you click on the green button (bottom
right corner of screen) to actually go to the track to race, nothing
happens.

It does not matter whether I have selected training, race, multiplayer
or championship, nothing happens when you click the green button!

Thanx

I'm surprised Malc hasn't snatched this one... ;)

After installing the carsounds patch, did you install the correct number
of car sounds into the sounds directory? (Do the mods do this for you?)

GPL GEM 67 Mod query?

Erm, dunno, hang on I'll check...

I have seven sound files in the gpl/sound directory and a sound.dat
file too.

The sound files are 690.wav to 696.wav (7 in total)

I did not do anything to the sound files or sound directory after
installing gpl, other than run the carsound patch (from the gpl
directory). So I assume the carsound patch or the 65 or 69 mod put
these files here.

Is this causing the problem?

The mods have their own sounds which get installed with those mods -
i.e 690, 691 etc for the 69 cars.  Once you apply the carsound patch
you must add the sound files that are specific to the 67 cars or else
you won't be able to specifically run the 67 cars.  You need bra, brm,
cov, eag, fer, lot and mur WAV files.

You can find good sound files for the 67 cars at
