Unfortunately, it reads like a poor translation from Cthulhu-speak.

I just wish I had a friend that would spend that kind of time helping me
figure it all out.

My story wasnt so spectacular. The just released GPL demo on a clapped out
pentium 133. The rest as they say, is credit card history ;>)

My brain gave up trying to decipher it after the third sentence...or what I
think was a sentence. It may have been a phrase or simply a collection of
unrelated words - not sure. :)

(Yes, I DO realise that the author may not have English as his native
tongue, so-to-speak.)

Yeah, too bad it wasn't proof-read before it was posted.

LOL... sounds like my GPL beginnings. Demo ran at 11fps on my P133 and
Voodoo1, so, naturally, I went out and ordered a new PC the next day. <g>

I can recall actually putting off upgrading my PC until after the release of
the "other demo" (the one where the cars launched themselves into orbit!).
Cost me a ***y fortune, but I never regretted doing so, even if it was for
one, and only one, sim. :)

Yup. Just lonely ol' me on the track so i could turn on SOME eye candy.
Quite lacking once i was done being amazed by the physics. Same deal,
ordered myself a pile of parts the next day and built a killer .5 gig system
(woohoo ;)) or whatever was the balls when the demo came out. I forget.
I hate to say, i kinda put a halt on GPL a year or two ago when i finally
broke through to a negative rank. Even breaking into the FF wheel crowd last
winter wasnt enough to quite re-spark my interest. Weird. it is the only
software on my goof-off computer that has been worth really saving. I burned
2 copies. 1 at home and 1 in a safety deposit box in case the house catches
fire :)

A few weeks ago I read about this mech-game that has been released for
X-box which costs a shitload of money because you also get a custom
controller setup which can be basically used for just this one game. I
was wondering that are there really any hard-core gamers who are ready
to buy this game which costs hundreds of euros (or dollars :) just
because it includes this fancy controller thingy.

Then I thought what I have bought just to play this one and only game
that I have played for the last five years... First I bought a new
computer. I bought a force feedback steering wheel. I figured out I need a
3d-card. I was not getting enough fps, had to upgrade my CPU. Sound card
was crap, had to buy a new one (and I almost shit in my pants the first
time I went on the starting grid with the sounds set to maximum). My friends
had a better 3d-card, had to upgrade :) My 15" monitor was just too small,
got a bigger one. The monitor did not fit comfortably on the desk, got
a new and more ergonomic desk. Found out all those fantastic track
updates and improved car textures and that hit my fps quite hard.
Had to upgrade the CPU, which also meant a new mother board, 3d-card,
basically new everything. Oh my god, those guys with MOMO are going faster
than me, I had to get MOMO too.

And all this *just* for Grand Prix Legends...

It seems that those X-Box mech-gamers are not that stupid after all.

But I am quite proud that I could resist those 3d-glasses and the "view
pans the way you move you head"-gadgets which seemed quite cool...

FWIW,  I have seen reports that claim EVERY single one of those $200
mech   super joysticks have been sold.  Not just shipped but sold.  It was
a one-time production run and they are all gone.

I just found this game for the discount price of 7.5 euro and it really
seems as good as the people in this group have been saying for the past few
years. I've read about graphical updates for this game, I suppose those are
improved skins for the cars and better looking tracks. Where can I find
those?
