Next to the setup name is an arrow that opens a drop down list.  Pick
the setup you want to load from this list (there is no load button).

Nascar 2 - how to recall car setup?

by bart.. » Sun, 15 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I picked up a copy at Best Buy last Wednesday.

However, I'm not sure I don't like Nascar 1 better. I didn't have near
the headache getting it up and running.

Does anybody have this game and figured out how to save a car setup
and be able to recall it?????????? I am able to save the setup but
when I go back into the game and try to recall the setup I am unable
to . The manual shows a 'Load' option on the bottom of the screen, my
game doesn't have a 'Load' option. When at a dos promt, I see the
file, the game seems to save the file, but no way to load the file.

Been there done that. the only files that show up are the qualify,
ace, fast, & easy my newly saved file doesn't show up. I can look in
the track directroy and see my x.stg file but I am unable to load it
into the game. I would like to save the setups provided by the game as
baselines and have my personal setups named differently. The manual
indicates this functionality, NCR1 had this ability ??

Bart, (for lack of a better name) Before these guys here roast you
about how much of a moron you are because you can't do such a simple
thing.   :)
I would guess that you have done a minimum install. There is a very
real bug in the program (contrary to what some here will tell you) that does
not allow you to load a saved setup if you do not do a full installation.
When you pull down the menu for saved setups the program checks
the CD for the setups, not the hard drive.
Hopefully there will be a patch for this, as it is going to be a real
problem for Joe Blow six-pack and Little Johnny by about New Years day
when they have learned enough to want to try to tweak a setup.
Nascar2 has little interest for me till I can either get a patch, buy
Partition Magic, or find the time to backup everything and re-partition my
hard drive. It is not much fun to have to reset everything each time you enter
a track. I have about half a Gig free on my disk, it is just not a partition that
DOS or Win95 can read.
So, if you have the space, just do a full install, otherwise wait for
a patch.
        Hope this helps,
        Ralph

Did you do the minimum install?  There is a bug that only lets you load
the setups if you did the full install.

I'm having the same problem myself. Everytime I go from "practice" to say
"warmup"or "race" it defaults to those damn annoying "easy" settings even
though I set it to default to "ace". Wonder why it won't read any N1
setups.Sure would save alot of typing.
