hehe.. you are right though, !!PATIENCE!! In the GPML series, this
past Sunday we ran the Converted Glen (Modern Glen). I was leading all
the way to lap ten when I came across a back marker. This Glen doesn't
have Blue flags to tell him that I'm the leader and he should let me
by. I knew this and just sat behind him for about three or four laps.
All this time the second place guy was getting bigger and bigger in my
mirrors and I knew that if I didn't get by this lapper I'd end up losing
first place. I also knew that if I tried to pass him in the wrong place
I might end up mowing the lawns and still losing first place. So I just
sat there and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally with one second
between my and the second place driver, The lapper spins in the ninety.
WooHoo, I can now continue my race in first place and try to build up
that lead again!!
Dang it, wouldn't yah know it, I was so e***d that I ended up over
powering the car on the exit of the ninety just after the lapper spun.
The second place guy ended up taking the lead while I tried to gather my
self back up and get going before he got too far ahead. Luckily this
wasn't long and I ended up just two seconds behind. It took another
five or six laps of breathing in his exhaust fumes and getting so close
to him I could reach out and touch his gear box. I finally found that I
was a bit quicker getting on the brakes, but softer in the ninety then
he was. So, I took the advantage and out braked him on the inside and
regained the lead.
For the rest of that lap he was pretty much stuck to my tail pipe and
scaring the heck out of me. He must have been studying his mirrors
while I was behind him because he attempted to pass me in the chute
(180* just after the inner loop) where I'm the slowest. He grabbed the
inside and we ran side by side down most of the next strait. Just
before the braking point for turn ten, I was able to pull in front of
him and get ready for the turn. Unfortunately, I wasn't quite ready for
it and ended up spinning. hehe, luck was on my side that day because
while trying to avoid me, he ended up spinning as well. I took off
quicker then he did and went on to win the race.
If you read all that you'll see that I waited for the right time and
right place to pass both drivers. I didn't wait for the next corner, or
even the next several corners, I waited several laps before I found the
right place. !!PATIENCE!! is what it took! I had enough of it that I
ended up winning:)
BTW: I'm now in first place in the points race!!
And to the other drivers of GPML.... I WON, I WON, I WON, I WON, I
WON, I WON, I WON, I WON, I WON, I WON, I WON, I WON, I WON, I WON, I
WON, Nothing is better then rubbing it in<g> I WON, I WON, I WON, <G>
